If you are a regular reader of our blogs, you’ll know that they generally have a therapeutic quality about them. This isn’t one of our regular blogs! From time to time, we like to be able to give you a flavour of what is happening in the organisation and today we have some exciting news for you.
Healing for the Heart has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and at the beginning of the summer, the trustees of Whiteinch Transformation decided that it wastime to look at how tohelp us ‘grow up’. The decision was made to establish a separate charity. In October the paperwork was completed and we became incorporated as a two tier SCIO.
There are many things which now need to be attended to- governance structures, financial plans, policies and procedures and we are working our way through these. In this blog, we wanted to share with you our vision about one of these areas in particular.
We want to always be able to provide support for people when they need it, regardless of their ability to pay for it. We want to develop a social business model where we can partner with businesses and organisations to provide a service for them, the income from which will then allow us to deliver a low or no cost service to some of the most vulnerable in the communities we serve. The services we provide (Counselling, therapeutic massage, spiritual healing, supported volunteering) are all services which can make a big difference in the lives of those who use them. By partnering with us, businesses and organisations don’t simply have access to the service we provide (a service that is increasingly being recommended by other mental health professionals) but are also able to address their own Corporate Social Responsibility policies by ‘paying it forward’ for someone who can’t afford to pay for the service but who badly needs what we can offer.
Support with mental and emotional health is a huge issue in the workplace with countless ‘sick’ days and weeks taken as a result. Investing in the mental and emotional health of employees and volunteers has the potential to increase productivity and engagement. If you or someone you know would like to find out more about what we offer then we would love to talk with you. We believe that we have a very marketable product which will add to your existing health and well-being policies and practice for employees and volunteers.
